Kansas City Businesses Team in Go Red for Women Heart
Wellness Campaign
Kansas City, MO – February 12, 2009 –
Sonrisa Salon and Day Spa and Fitness Together Kansas City North - Tremont are
teaming up to support American Heart Month and Go Red for Women. Sonrisa will
make a donation to the American Heart Association for every Aveda hair color
service performed during the month of February, a minimum of $2,000.00.
Both businesses are participating sponsors of the Kansas City Go Red for Women
Luncheon being held on April 17, 2009 at the Kansas City Downtown Marriott’s
Muehlbach Tower. The year long Go Red For Women campaign kicks off at the annual
luncheon, providing women of all generations with tips and information on a wide
variety of heart health topics.
A highlight of the half-day event is The Red Hot "Pursonality" Silent Auction,
which will include fabulous offerings from both Sonrisa and Fitness Together,
including a Louis Vuitton handbag containing spa certificates, all valued at
more than $2,400.00. Fitness Together is donating $670.00 in gift certificates
for fitness assessments and fitness training.
Sonrisa, an eco-friendly salon and day spa, features natural beauty products
such as Aveda, Eminence Organics Skin Care and Terra Jewel mineral make-up.
Co-owner Karen Kissinger is a certified Life and Wellness Coach and actively
supports many health and wellness causes. “Heart disease is the number one
killer of both women and men in the U.S. and has touched many of our clients and
loved ones,” said Kissinger. “I want to help educate people about the importance
of heart health and healthy life choices.”
Fitness Together specializes in one-on-one personal training in private suites.
“Our objective is to help people get active and live healthier lives,” said
Scott Espinosa, a Certified Personal Trainer and owner of Fitness Together -
Tremont. Numerous studies note the profound effect of cardio-respiratory fitness
on overall health. The American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College
of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommend that all healthy adults ages 18-65 should be
getting a minimum of 20 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity
three days each week or at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity five
days of the week.
